"Keeper Of The Flame" Strat appears

I commissioned this guitar to be made for my friend and band mate, Leon Hendrix. The "Keeper of The Flame" Strat is an aluminum hollow body. I play a 40th Anniversary anodized purple one and wanted to have a matched pair. We played them for Jimi's 69th in NYC live for the first time.

After a five year build period, donating the body I bought for myself to make one for Leon so we could get a balance on the guitar tone between our guitars in the band. November 2008, I presented Leon with the finished Spruce Hill Guitar's, one of a kind "Keeper Of The Flame" Stratocaster, an hollow body aluminum.

Willie Dixon's son, Butch Dixon

Butch hired me to rebuild Chess Records. Great story, including SRV's Strat in the vault, Don Was and a lot of cat and mouse. A year after I arrived in Seattle I called Butch one day, we agreed to talk in a few days at length. 48 hours later he passed away when the tour van flipped on the New Jersey Turnpike heading back to Chicago. RIP BROTHER
